SUMMARY:Toronto Inner Harbour Floatables Strategy: Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:Come learn about this collaborative strategy with a mission to reduce plastic pollution and other floating litter in the Toronto harbour. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlastic pollution and other floatable litter on our waterfront can harm wildlife and is an eyesore. To prevent and reduce these floatables – through education\, prevention and cleanup – we collaborated with local organizations to initiate the Toronto Inner Harbour Floatables Strategy (Floatables Strategy) in 2019. This strategy has since grown and solidified over the years to include more actions with more and diverse stakeholders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou’re invited to join us for a special meeting to learn more about the Floatables Strategy. We will provide information about what the strategy covers\, show the impact of our work\, and then hear from you! You’ll receive an opportunity to ask questions and offer suggestions for future actions as we move into our next phase. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent details: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDate: Thursday September 18\, 2025\n\n\n\nTime: Please arrive by 5:45 pm to check in. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 pm.\n\n\n\nLocation: Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre – Dance Studio (627 Queens Quay W)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Floatables Strategy is not just for us\, it’s for you – the people who work\, live and enjoy recreation opportunities along the waterfront. This strategy is also to protect our environment and to help local businesses\, community members\, and visitors thrive in a beautiful space. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe look forward to hearing from you and sharing more about what we do locally. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Floatables Strategy is a collaborative strategy with a mission to reduce plastic pollution and other floating litter in the harbour. It is a collaboration between the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority the Toronto Remedial Action Plan\, University of Toronto Trash Team\, PortsToronto\, City of Toronto\, Swim Drink Fish\, Waterfront Business Improvement Area\, Harbourfront Centre\, and Waterfront Toronto.

SUMMARY:Life of a Pellet: Plastic Pollution Short Film & Mixer
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the premiere of Life of a Pellet\, a stop motion short film exploring pre-production plastic pellet pollution. Made entirely of plastic trash and real plastic pellets\, Life of a Pellet tells the tale of Peter the Pellet who is excited to become a useful plastic item in the world but gets lost outside a production factory. Peter is washed into a storm drain\, floats down the Humber River and ends up in Lake Ontario. \n\n\n\nLearn from community leaders and speakers as they share more about local research and provide a behind-the-scenes look at the process of creating stop-motion animation for the film. \n\n\n\nLife of a Pellet was conceptualized by Zoë Ungku Fa’iz. Building upon her own research on microplastics in landfill leachate\, she was inspired to extend the lives of a portion of the millions of the pre-production plastic pellets that were lost to the environment and collected from “Operation Sweep the Creek 3.0”’s project.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe film is supported by Ocean Wise’s Eco-Action Accelerator Grant. Pellets were sourced from U of T Trash Team’s Operation Sweep the Creek 3.0 pollution prevention project. Storyboard and story development by Dani Doodles. Animation by Stop Motion Department.

SUMMARY:Pollution Prevention Project Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:This webinar series highlights a selection of our Pollution Prevention Projects – aimed at tackling plastic pollution in the environment\, one source at a time!
