Ditching Disposables: How to Reduce Plastic Pollution From Single-use Foodware

June 16, 2022 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

In response to concerns over increases in plastic pollution and to the federal government’s decision to ban single-use plastic items, the City of Toronto is pushing ahead with a Single-Use Takeaway Items Reduction Strategy focused on reducing disposable, unrecyclable waste.

Learn about the challenges, opportunities, and tips related to switching from single-use to reusable foodware materials.

Rafaela F. Gutierrez, co-founder of the University of Toronto Trash Team and Emily Alfred, a Senior Campaigner with the Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA), will share results from a recent project to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing reusables programs in local businesses within the City of Toronto.

This Live & Online presentation is part of Toronto Public Library’s Our Fragile Planet program series, supported by TD Friends of the Environment (TD FEF).
