Home Waste Audit

Learn how to do your best waste management… at home!
Ever find yourself staring at your waste, wondering what goes in what bin and what some strategies are to reduce waste at home? The popular University of Toronto Trash Team’s Home Waste Audit returns and invites you to challenge yourself to reduce your waste as you increase your waste literacy!
You will learn about the waste streams in your municipality as you decrease your waste footprint, divert waste away from landfills and learn how local waste impacts the global waste footprint.
How it works:
- The Home Waste Audit takes place over two weeks from Monday, February 10 until Sunday, February 23, 2025 and each week you will record what items ends up in your garbage and recycling bins.
- You will be invited to two webinars, taking place before and after completing your Home Waste Audit.
- We will also share two short online surveys, before and during your home waste audit
Webinars:
The first webinar takes place a few days before your audit to provide instructions and give some time to prepare your home. The second webinar takes place a few weeks after the home waste audit to share our final results and learn about your experience.
