Plastic Pollution, Toxicity, and Policy Change

September 15, 2021 @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm

A public dialogue between activists, scholars, scientists, and policy experts tackling the issues at the forefront of plastics pollution policy. The panel will focus on activating resistance to mechanisms of petro-chemical pollution affecting human health and ecosystems. The known and unknown effects of plastic as a matrix for chemical accumulation, the dangers of its circulation in waterways, and the uneven distribution of its impact on communities are among the primary concerns of the movement that calls for “turning off the tap” and regulating the plastics industry and future development.

With Vanessa Gray, Mark Fisher, Michelle Murphy, Chelsea Rochman, moderated by Heather Davis

This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition Plastic Heart: Surface All the Way Through on view at the Art Museum at the University of Toronto from September 8 through November 20, 2021.
