Trash Trap Dive

On Saturday August 12, join us for a Trash Trap Dive, a one-of-a-kind opportunity to peek behind the scenes of this important work.
You’ll have the unique opportunity to:
- Meet members of the Toronto Inner Harbour Floatables Strategy
- Get hands-on with a team of researchers
- Learn how we characterize both large and small items collected by trash traps
- Learn about microplastics, where they come from and how we can prevent them from reaching Lake Ontario and eventually the ocean.

- Date: Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at 10 am (arrive by 9:45 to check in).
- Where: Marina Quay West (539 Queen Quay W, Toronto). View map
- What to bring: All tools will be provided, please dress for the weather.
- Stick around until the end for a raffle!
This important work contributes to the Toronto Inner Harbour Floatables Strategy, a collaborative strategy to reduce plastic pollution and other floating litter in the harbour. It is led in partnership with the U of T Trash Team, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, PortsToronto, City of Toronto, Swim Drink Fish, Waterfront Business Improvement Area, and Harbourfront Centre.
The Trash Trap Dive is supported by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation’s Reduction of Marine Litter Project.
