Dive into our trash traps without taking a step in the lake to take a peek behind the scenes and learn how we characterize litter diverted by trash traps on the Toronto Waterfront.

The Trash Trap Dive is a community science event that engages with the community to share the various ways we remove and monitor floatable plastic pollution from Lake Ontario through trash traps. This event is hosted as part of our Fighting Floatables in the Toronto Harbour research through the Toronto Inner Harbour Floatables Strategy.
- When and Where: This event is hosted at Marina Quay West in the summer, typically in July or August.
- How it works: Participants receive hands-on instruction from our team of Fighting Floatables researchers to learn the waste characterization methods they use to categorize all sizes of plastic pollution we find in trash traps.
- How to join: Visit our events calendar in early summer for registration details.
