Plastic Pellet Blitz: A Community Science Event
August 17, 2024 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

On Saturday August 17, join our Plastic Pellet Blitz to become a community scientist and learn standard protocols to monitor and cleanup plastic pellets.
Join our first-ever Plastic Pellet Blitz, a cleanup focused on a less familiar source of microplastic pollution called pre-production plastic pellets! Plastic pellets are the building blocks used to make everyday plastic products, and, unfortunately, their small size makes it so they can easily become pollution. In fact, every year, we finds plastic pellets in trash capture devices deployed along Toronto’s Waterfront.
This event supports Operation Sweep the Creek, a U of T Trash Team Pollution Prevention Project that addresses plastic pellet pollution at the source.
